Alexis Rosenfeld brings the voice of the ocean to the Visa pour l'Image festival

For its 34th edition, the prestigious Visa pour l'Image festival honored the 1 OCEAN / UNESCO project with a selection of photographs by Alexis Rosenfeld.

Freshly restored, the magnificent grounds of the former University of Perpignan were the setting for this year's Visa pour l'Image International Photojournalism Festival. From August 27 to November 11, the Festival showcased the work of some twenty carefully selected photographers from all over the world.

Photographer and explorer Alexis Rosenfeld and UNESCO presented a selection of photographs taken during the 1 OCEAN exploration missions. The 16,000 visitors were able to discover the unsuspected landscapes of the world's seabed, through a variety of themes. These included the coral reefs of French Polynesia, the underwater volcanoes of Sicily, and WWF's "Cap Cétacés" program.

"Participating in Visa pour l'Image is of course an honor. It gives even more meaning to the 1 OCEAN project I'm working on with UNESCO. We are witnesses, through images, to the richness and fragility of the Ocean. Allowing us to exhibit these photographs is to enable us to pass on this knowledge and thus help protect the Ocean."

Created in 1989, Visa Pour l'Image is an international photojournalism festival held in Perpignan. Considered by many to be the biggest festival of its kind, it welcomes the best in photojournalism every year.
