A new blue hole discovered off the coast of Mexico 

With a maximum depth of 270 meters, the underwater cavern in Chetumal Bay (east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula) has become the second deepest blue hole known to date. First explored in 2021, the site, now known as Taam Ja', is home to an astonishing biodiversity, and is arousing the curiosity of the scientific community.

On Monday June 26, holidaymakers enjoying the beaches of Marseillan, in the Hérault region of France, witnessed a rare phenomenon: the presence of a mako shark, trapped in 30 centimetres of water. Although alerted, technicians from the marine protected area on the Agathoise coast arrived too late to save the shark.
